Just a little about me..................
Hello!!! My name is Lisa Kutchman. This is my seventh year at Barton Creek Elementary, and I am so excited to be here. I am originally from Oklahoma and moved to Austin 6 years ago. This school year will be my 11th year teaching 5th grade. Wow! I can't believe how time flies! I love the beginning of the school year. I can't wait to meet all my new students and their families so we can begin our exciting journey together!
I am a graduate of Oklahoma State University......Go Cowboys! I have two older sisters who have given me 3 nieces and a nephew, all of whom I love spending time with. I also have a dachshund named Buddy who keeps me busy. For fun, I enjoy reading, running, dining out, listening to live music, and spending time with friends and family. I also love to travel and have been to some interesting places (have quite a few on my wish list also).
I hope everyone is as excited about Language Arts & Social Studies as I am. I am very passionate about both these areas and love the opportunities for imagination and creativity that they provide. Reading offers unlimited opportunities to transport yourself into other worlds, learn of people and things in a different time, and see the world from someone else's eyes. I am an avid reader, and I try to inspire a love of reading in all my students. Writing is an amazing tool for self expression and also provides me with a unique perspective into who my students are. I am looking forward to challenging my students to be creative and try new techniques so that we can all become better writers. I love history, culture, and geography and want to share these loves with my class. I have a huge passion for learning, and I am very pleased to have the opportunity to share it with the amazing students at Barton Creek Elementary School!
